CIOFF and CIOF Hold RTDs on IPv6 and PKI

The CIOF Foundation, Inc. and the CIO Forum, Inc. successfully held back-to-back Round Table Discussions (RTDs) on two very important topics of the day, the IPv6, or Internet Protocol Version 6, and the Public Key Infrastructure, or PKI.  The RTDs were held last April 16, 2010 at the NCC Audio-Visual Room, CICT-NCC Building in Dalian, Quezon City.  

Mr. Paul Wilson, Director-General of APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Center), and Mr. Bruce Sinclair, CEO of Gogo6, the leading provider of IPv4/IPv6 interoperability solutions based in Canada, were guest resources persons who spoke on current initiatives in other Asian countries and worldwide. Mr. Venkatesh Sundar, Entrust Sales Head, Asia-Pacific, spoke on PKI best practices in various countries.  Dir. Teresita Roberto of the National Computer Center and Dir. Lourdes Yaptinchay of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provided updates on the PKI project in the Philippines.

Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT)Chair Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III gave the keynote address during the event which was attended by some 85 CIOs and heads of IT organizations in government and their respective agency network managers and administrators.  CIOF Foundation chair Dan F. Pabellon welcomed the resource speakers and participants.

Mr. George Kintanar and Ms. Minnie Mesina, CIOF Foundation Trustees, as well as Ms. Malou Aquilizan of the National Computer Institute (NCI) led the preparations and organization of the event.  AC Corporation, a local partner of the CIOF Foundation, Inc., was co-sponsor of the event.

1   To promote the strategic and wider use and application of information and communications technology (ICT) in the Philippine government for more efficient, effective, and transparent public governance;
2   To develop greater government-private sector partnership in promoting the use of ICT to enhance the delivery of services to the public;
3   To serve as an advocacy and consensus-building group to address key ICT policy issues and concerns;
4   To provide the venue for greater knowledge and information exchange, as well as resource and experience sharing within and among government agencies and instrumentalities.
