CIOFF Board creates Project Management Team to coordinate preparations for the First eGov’t Forum

The CIOF Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees passed a Resolution during its meeting held on May 18, 2010, creating a Project  Management Team to coordinate preparations for the holding of the first eGovernment Forum to be held on June 22-23, 2010 at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila.

The eGovernment Forum, to be known as Public Service 2.0, signalling the Philippine government’s migration to a higher level of public governance, will feature both international and local speakers who will speak on global best practices in public governance. 

The event will be part of the celebration of Philippine National ICT Month in June this year.  eGovernment Awards will be given for the first time in the country on the second day of the event, to give recognition to seven outstanding ICT projects being implemented by various national and local government national agencies or units.  The CIOFF and CIOF have contracted Team Asia to help organize and manage the event. 

Some 200 CIOs, IT managers or heads of IT organizations in their respective agencies, in both the national and local levels , as well as those from the private sector, are expected to attend the eGovernment Forum.

The Resolution also formalized the designation of Trustee George Kintanar as project director and Trustee Minnie Mesina as deputy project director, who had been coordinating preparations for the event since February.  The Board also authorized the team to enter into an Agreement with Team Asia to organize and manage the event. 

Other members of the team are Mr. Ivan John E. Uy, Ms. Remy Nunez, Ms. Cynthia Topacio, Ms. Peri Espino, Ms. Patti dela Rama, Mr. Virgilio Gaje, and Ms.Juli Sudario.  Secretariat support to the team will be provided by Ms. Ria Esquivel, Ms. Portia Ubiadas, and Ms. Jackie Roncale.

A seed money of PhP2 million has been granted by the E3 Project of the Canadian International Development  Agency (CIDA) to help defray the cost of the venue and other key activities of for the event.   CIOFF Chair Dan F. Pabellon and CIOF President Ma. Esperanza M. Espino signed the memorandum of agreement with E3-CIDA granting the seed amount.  The CIOF, CIOFF and Team Asia, meanwhile, have been able to raise other sponsorships for the event and prizes for the e-Government Awards  that will be given as highlight during the 2-day event.

A non-stock and  non-profit organization duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, organized by and composed of former and incumbent Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and heads of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Management Information Systems (MIS) offices or units of the different government departments and agencies, as well as local government units (LGUs) for the advancement and wider and strategic application of ICT for more efficient and effective public governance.

Our Objectives

1   To promote the strategic and wider use and application of information and communications technology (ICT) in the Philippine government for more efficient, effective, and transparent public governance;
2   To develop greater government-private sector partnership in promoting the use of ICT to enhance the delivery of services to the public;
3   To serve as an advocacy and consensus-building group to address key ICT policy issues and concerns;
4   To provide the venue for greater knowledge and information exchange, as well as resource and experience sharing within and among government agencies and instrumentalities.
